About the Artist

Tracey Brittis, an artist with an unwavering passion for painting, embarked on her artistic journey in 2015. This newfound devotion to art came about after a life-altering battle with head and neck cancer that necessitated extensive surgery, resulting in speech and eating challenges. Her experience with overcoming adversity proved transformative.

Despite holding an MFA, Tracey's focus during the program leaned towards writing, culminating in the publication of her book, Collateral Beauty, available on Amazon. This pivotal moment marked a turning point in her life, leading her to shed her roles as a lawyer, mother, and homemaker. She has since converted her cluttered garage into Southport Studio, a beautiful and airy art space in the picturesque village of Southport, CT.

Tracey's reputation as an artist grew organically through word-of-mouth praise from passersby who stumbled upon her studio with an inviting sign that beckoned them to enter. As her hidden gem started attracting art enthusiasts from the neighborhood, she was pleasantly surprised by the demand for her paintings. To add to the lively atmosphere, she introduced friendly Paint and Sip classes, creating a fun and enjoyable experience for many.

Despite having limited formal training as a painter, Tracey attended occasional classes and workshops at local art schools and received private instruction. She supplemented this with constant visits to art galleries and museums, developing a unique style that is distinctly her own. Her artworks display a remarkable range, from vibrant and colorful pieces to those with a more subtle and monochromatic palette. She primarily works with acrylic paint, but she also ventures into oil on canvas and gouache to create her captivating art.

Tracey's creations are a testament to the boundless nature of creativity, proving that it can flourish even in the face of daunting challenges. Her inspirational journey serves as a reminder that art knows no limits and has the power to thrive amidst adversity.
